Judge Saris has been a judge in the District of Massachusetts since 1993. She had previously served as a Magistrate Judge for the District of Massachusetts and as a judge in the Massachusetts Superior Court.

Judicial Philosophy
Judge Saris is an active jurist; she will frequently redirect counsel during arguments to focus on issues she feels are critical or to explain facts that are unclear. During jury trials she will also suggest questions to attorneys or elaboration from witnesses if she feels there is information that would assist the jury that is not being well explained.
Intellectual Property Cases
Judge Saris has handled many intellectual property cases during her time on the bench. She is a frequent and outspoken speaker on patent issues. Judge Saris sat by designation with the Federal Circuit in October 2006. She is a regular participant in continuing legal education programs directed to IP, including being a frequent attendee at meetings of the Boston IP American Inns of Court.
